Practical Joke Colt Sells for $500,000 at Fasig-Tipton October
A Practical Joke colt was a $500,000 purchase for Mayberry Farm at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale to be the co-second most expensive offering of the sale.
Hunter Valley Farm consigned the son of winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Runninwiththewind, whose only foal to race is a two-time winner. Runninwiththewind is a half-sister to the multiple stakes-placed One For Jim, who herself produced six winners led by the Grade I-placed Bold Conquest.
“I thought he was a standout of the sale,” Phil Hager said. “He was just a really nice physical by a good, proven stallion.”
Bred by Robert E Hibbert II, his page gets even better with his third dam. That mare is the three-time Grade I winner Jersey Girl, who went on to produced Grade I winner Jersey Town and the dams of multiple stakes performers.
Runninwiththewind produced a Justify colt this year.
