Practical Joke Filly Wins Again in Tomboy
Practical Joke daughter Practicallyelusive (3f Practical Joke x To Be Determined, by Elusive Quality) won her fourth straight race on Friday with a victory in the Tomboy Stakes at Belterra.
Searching for her second career stakes victory, the filly went off as the race favorite in the 1 1/16-mile turf race. Quick out of the gate, she secured herself an optimal spot in third and tracked the leader from two lengths back through the first half. Moving closer around the turn, she took over the lead with just over a furlong to run.
It was a battle to the line, but Practicallyelusive crossed it a neck in front for her sixth win in nine starts.
Also finishing third two other times in her career, the filly is trained by David Wolochuk for Blue Snow Racing Stables, Boots N Bikinis, and co-owner and breeder Joseph Engelhart.
The 3-year-old is out of the winning Elusive Quality mare To Be Determined, who also produced the multiple stakes placed Sweet Shild O Mine from her three winners. The Grade I-winning Zatter is under the filly’s second dam Katori with Katori a half-sister to Grade I winner Monba and stakes placed Gijma.
To Be Determined had a Mendelssohn half-brother to Practicallyelusive named String Octet in 2022 and a full brother to the filly this year.
This is the second stakes winner in less than a week for Practical Joke after Domestic Product won the Grade I H. Allen Jerkens on Saturday.
