Practical Joke Well Represented at Fasig-Tipton
Fresh off seeing one of his first crop 2-year-olds top the March sale at OBS, Practical Joke sends out 11 more 2-year-olds at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale.
He starts early with Harley/de Renzo Thoroughbreds offering Hip 4, a filly out of a half-sister to champion Falbrav. Bred by Sequel Stallions New York and NYP Bloodstock in New York, the filly sold for $200,000 at the Keeneland September Sale to Rosedown Racing last Autumn and for good reason. Her Sadler’s Wells dam is the dam of three winners and is also a half-sister to stakes-placed Fattsota with multiple sisters producing stakes winners or dams of stakes winners.
Hip 31 comes to the sale under the Wavertree Stables banner and was bred by JSM Equine. The colt is a half-brother to two stakes horses with Grade III winner Plainsman also seeing an update to his record this year. All four of his dam S S Pinafore’s runners are winners with her other winners including Grade III-placed Liam. S S Pinafore is a winning half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Southdale with one of her half-sisters producing stakes placed Bourbon Bay and recent Maddie Made Stakes second Brattle House. Each of this colt’s first four dams has either earned blacktype themselves or produced a stakes winner.
A $250,000 colt at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase last fall, the H. Allen Poindexter-bred colt out of Adande goes through the ring as Hip 65. Breezing in :10.1 for Pick View as agent, the colt is the second foal out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Isotherm and Grade I-placed Gio Game from three winning half-sisters for his dam. Adande’s More Than Ready dam is the stakes-placed Game For More, one of two stakes horses for her own winning dam.
A $130,000 yearling last year, Hip 81 offered by De Meric Sales is out of a half-sister to Grade II winner Bustle. Bred by Swifty Farms, the filly’s five-time winning dam has also produced one winner and one other placers from two foals of racing age and is also a half-sister to stakes winner Ladies’ Privilege. Bustle’s winning dam is also a half-sister to multiple Grade I winner Critical Eye with eight stakes horses listed under this filly’s third dam alone.
The first foal out of the stakes winning Do The Dance, the $130,000 yearling purchase bred by Lester Kwok and Dr. Naoya Yoshida is offered by Gene Recio as Hip 106. Breezing in :10.1, the colt’s dam is also a half-sister to stakes winner Randonnee with their dam out of the Grade III winner Loving Pride. This colt is another one whose first four dams are all stakes winners or producers.
Bred by Amy Rabanal, DVM, Constance Wickes and Highclere, Hip 117 was purchased last year as a yearling for $150,000 and has seen multiple updates since then. Breezing in :10.0, the filly out of Goforitmrsmiller is a half-sister to stakes-placed Bandwidth and five other winners from her dam’s six foals to race. Goforitmrsmiller is herself a half-sister to three stakes winners and one other stakes placed horse with two of her siblings seeing updates under their names on the page thanks to multiple new winners.
Practical Joke’s final offering through the ring is consigned by Tom McCrocklin as Hip 180 and bred by Eurowest Bloodstock Services. A granddaughter of stakes-placed Inside Passage, her dam Narrow Sea is also a half-sister to Grade II Fair Grounds Oaks third Sweet Diane. Inside Passage is one of eight stakes horses for the winning Miswaki mare Magical Flash. That mare’s best runner was Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Take The Ribbon with one of Take The Ribbon’s stakes winning half-sisters producing champion Good Magic.
Also on offer by Practical Joke is a colt consigned by De Meric Sales out of stakes-placed Roaming as Hip 7; a colt out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Halory Leigh from Top Line Sales as Hip 85; Hip 148 from Scanlon Training And Sales out of a half-sister to Grade II winner Concave; and Hip 156 from the family of Grade II winner Natural Selection offered by Wavertree Stables.
