Another Miracle (American Pharoah) wnning the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga

Second Stakes-Winner for American Pharoah

Triple Crown hero American Pharoah featured at the Saratoga meeting on Friday when exciting colt Another Miracle (2c American Pharoah x Retraceable, by Medaglia D’Oro) powered clear to win the $100,000 Skidmore Stakes on the turf.

Second on debut at Belmont, the Gary Contessa trained colt was a winner on dirt at Saratoga last month and took another step forward with this fast finishing win. He stalked the leader and accelerated away to take the five and a half furlong sprint by a length and three-quarters.

“My horse broke good like always,” said winning rider Manny Franco. “Once I saw [Jose] Lezcano's horse [Montauk Daddy] wanted to go, I just let him go. I knew I had horse all the way around. I just waited for the right moment to move, and that's what I did. He's talented. He can run on both surfaces.”

A $210,000 Keeneland September purchase, Another Miracle has already won $120,500 and will look towards Grade I goals later in the year.

“I don't know that I need to stretch him out because of the Breeders' Cup [G1 Juvenile Turf] Sprint facing us. We'll have to win one of those ‘Win And You're In’ races, so probably [the $200,000 Indian Summer S. Oct. 6] Keeneland next out,” said Gary Contessa.

Another Miracle is the third winner for stakes-winning Medaglia D’Oro mare Retraceable, whose next dam is by Dehere.

Another Miracle is the second stakes-winner for American Pharoah joining Maven, but is his first in North America.

The Triple Crown hero is back in Australia this spring at a fee of $66,000 and will have his first Southern Hemisphere bred yearlings at the 2020 Australasian sales.
