Seven On Offer By Practical Joke at OBS June
Hot off siring a TDN Rising Star when Wit impressively became his second winner from three starters, Practical Joke sends seven through the ring at OBS June Two-Year-Olds Sale – including a bullet breezer.
Among the breezers on the last day of the Under Tack show, Practical Joke’s $225,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate out of Tessie Flip breezed in a bullet :20.4. Purchased by Superfine Farms last September, he goes through the ring as Hip 835 through the Wavertree Stables consignment.
The colt is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner and Grade III-placed Jo Jo Air with their dam a multiple winning half-sister to dual Grade I winner Switch. Another of Tessie Flip’s half-sisters is stakes winner and stakes producer Keystone Gulch. The colt has seen multiple runners under his second dam win since the catalog was released.
This colt is bred similarly to Into Mischief’s Grade III winner Strict Compliance and Grade I-placed Slam Dunk, who are both out of Grand Slam mares.
Going an eighth in :10.1, Hip 413 from de Meric Sales is making her first appearance through a sales ring. Bred by Athens Woods, the I Love America daughter is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner American Sugar and stakes-placed Love To Run. I Love America took her count up to seven winners from seven to race after the catalogue was released when her 3-year-old son Orb of the Boro won twice, including breaking his maiden by 4 ¼ lengths.
I Love America is a half-sister to four stakes performers and to the dam of Grade I winner Sassy Image.
Out of a half-sister to dual Grade I winner and Triple Crown producing sire Pioneerof the Nile is Hip 118 from Hemingway Racing and Training. Bred by Springhouse Farm and Circular Road Breeders, the filly stopped the clock in :10.2 only days after her half-sister saw her Vancouver son Unidentified Man win at Delaware Park.
Others on this page include her dam’s Grade II-placed half-brother Forefathers and stakes-producing half-sister Regala Di Trieste. Under her third dam is multiple graded stakes winner Powis Castle.
This week’s Sale kicks off at 10:30a.m. Wednesday and runs through Friday. Practical Joke’s first through the ring is Hip 118 with Hip 413 his first on Thursday and Hip 795 his first on Friday.
