Special Breed 20th Worldwide Winner for Practical Joke
It was a 20th worldwide winner for Practical Joke on Tuesday when Special Breed (2c Practical Joke x Classy Grey Lassy, by Silver Train) put in a determined run to win on debut.
Racing over five furlongs on the Delta Downs dirt, Special Breed was slow off but quickly kicked it into gear. In only a little over a furlong, the colt entered a duel for the lead that lasted all the way to the wire.
Special Breed gained an advantage down the stretch and kept his nose in front throughout to win by a head.
Trained by Andrea Ali for Israel Flores, Special Breed was bred in Kentucky by Pollock Farms and Town and Country Horse Farms out of the two-time winning mare Classy Grey Lassy. That mare is a half-sister to stakes winners My Miss Chiff and Silvercents and out of the multiple stakes winning Carl’s Frosty Girl.
Practical Joke is the sire of 20 winners in three countries combining for 27 victories with his five stakes performers including three stakes winners, led by Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Wit.
