Stand Up Comic Gives Practical Joke Another Winner
Stand Up Comic (2f Practical Joke x Boleyn, by Proud Citizen) wasn’t joking around on Wednesday when the filly became her sire’s fourth winner on debut for LC Racing and Cash Is King.
Racing over 4 ½ furlongs on the Parx dirt in a Maiden Special Weight, she broke the quickest and never gave up the lead. Stand Up Comic had two lengths on the field at every call and though others tried to make up the distance in the stretch, she was not for catching and started to draw away as they approached the wire.
In the end the Robert Reid Jr.-trained filly saluted the judge by two lengths with the third place finisher five lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Eico Ventures, Stand Up Comic is a half-sister to stakes winner Hi Holiday and three other winners out of Grade II-placed Boleyn. Boleyn is one of four stakes performers out of her dam Magnificent Baby, who also produced eight winners from nine to race.
Stand Up Comic’ third dam is Grade I winner Magnificent Lindy, who was joined by Lin D Charger as stakes winners under her own dam.
Boleyn was bred to Uncle Mo for a 2021 foal.
A popular stallion at the sales with his first crop, Practical Joke is now bested by only stablemate Caravaggio by number of winners among all North American freshmen.
