Success Continues for American Pharoah at Magic Millions
U.S. Champion Freshman sire American Pharoah struck again during the third session of the Magic Millions yearling sale in Australia when his six yearlings sold were led by an AUD$600,000 colt purchased by astute judge Paul Moroney Bloodstock.
Consigned by Coolmore, the colt is the first foal out of winning Fastnet Rock mare Peaceful Sea and was bred by Katom. There is class throughout the family with Peaceful Sea’s granddam, Listed winner and three-time U.S. Grade I placer Bright Candles, also the dam of dual Grade I winner Grand Slam among others.
Peaceful Sea herself was a winner in Australia and has exclusively visited Triple Crown winners in her three years at stud, foaling an American Pharoah filly in 2019 before visiting Justify.
American Pharoah’s Day 3 results also included a pair of AUD$300,000 yearlings with Tartan Meadow buying a Kenmore Lodge-offered colt out of Listed-placed Papillon from the family of Champion Alinghi. Paul Perry bought the other AUD$300,000 offering when buying a colt out of Listed winner Replique from Coolmore’s draft.
American Pharoah’s first Australian crop has proven to be popular with breeders and buyers alike in Australia. His first yearlings are currently averaging $319,444 for 18 sold, the best of any freshman sire with an $850,000 colt sold early in the sale the most expensive offering by any first-crop stallion.
