Tx Women for Arts Newest Stakes Winner for Practical Joke
Tx Women for Arts (2f Practical Joke x Proximity Bias, by Flatter) became her sire’s newest stakes winner on Friday night with a victory in the Prairie Gold Lassie Stakes at Prairie Meadows.
The filly was the first one out of the gate in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race and quickly took up leading duties with another runner pushing her around the track. That rival took the lead as they entered the final furlong but Tx Women for Arts wasn’t to be denied and stuck her head back in front near the line to win by that margin with the third placed horse seven lengths behind the top two.
Trained by Steve Asmussen for Kirk and Judy Robison, the filly was bred in Kentucky by Frank Garrison and NATO.
Tx Women for Arts is out of the winning Flatter mare Proximity Bias, who is a half-sister to stakes placed Waging War. Also in the family are Grade I winners Stroll, Lea, and Desert Miracle.
Practical Joke is the sire of 14 Northern Hemisphere-foaled stakes winners with 27 stakes performers and two Grade I winners from those crops.
