Winning Return for Barkley

Talented performer Barkley (4h Munnings x Numero d’Oro, by Medaglia D’Oro) returned to winning form on Sunday night to win the $50,000 Governor’s Stakes at Emerald Downs.

The Howard Belvoir trained chestnut won his first six races on the trot last year including several stakes races before being sidelined after finishing second at Emerald Downs last July.

Barkley was second when returning to the track on April 22 and hit top form for his assignment winning the six furlong sprint by a neck.

A modest $21,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase, Barkley has won over $180,000 in prizemoney with seven wins and two seconds from just nine starts.

He is the first winner for Numero D’Oro, an unraced daughter of stakes-winner Numero Uno.
