All Four Camelot Colt Foals Fetch Six Figure Sums
Four foals by ‘sire of the season’ Camelot sold for six-figure sums at Goffs on Wednesday, when a half-brother to Mother Earth proved a highlight at €420,000.
MV Magnier was the successful purchaser, as he was for the colt’s dual Group 1-winning sibling at the venue’s 2019 Orby Sale. “He's a very nice horse,” Magnier said of the Grenane House Stud homebred. “Mother Earth was one of those special fillies and Camelot has had the best year he's had since he went to stud.”
On Camelot, Magnier elaborated: “He’s flying and they’ve been selling well all year. He’s a very good stallion, and with what he’s done this year, he’s into that elite status now. He can get you a proper Classic horse.”
Vefa Ibrahim Araci and Rob Speers underbid the Camelot colt, but later gained some compensation when securing another from Graigue Stables for €300,000. It marked a terrific result for connections as the bay is the first foal out of the unraced mare Sun Goddess (Wootton Bassett).
Baroda Stud was another consignor to reap the rewards with Camelot, as they sold the first foal out of Silent Prayer to JRSA for €160,000. Earlier in the session, Castlehyde Stud sold a Camelot colt to Apollo Bloodstock for €100,000.
