Ascot black-type for Holy Roman Emperor
Crying Lightening (3f Holy Roman Emperor-Auction Room, by Chester House) ran out an easy winner of the Listed October Stakes at Ascot on Saturday in the colours of footballers Joey Barton and Claudio Pizarro.
Last year’s G3 Solera Stakes runner-up was also successful in Dubai in March and she looked backed to her best as she landed the Ascot seven-furlong contest under Martin Dwyer.
“We got a couple of reports back from Dubai that she hadn’t trained on but we kept her there because we’d seen enough at home and she managed to win a nice race,” Barton told TDN. “She ran well at Doncaster last time and Jamie Spencer said after riding her there that she’d win next time out.”
Crying Lightening was bred by Paulyn Ltd and bought for £26,000 at the Doncaster Breeze-Up Sale last year.
