Powerful Nation (Sioux Nation) Wins The Irish Ebf Race At Dundalk

Black-type Sioux Nation Colt Shows His Class

Friday saw the highly-rated Powerful Nation (2c Sioux Nation – Atlantic Queen, by Society Rock) produce an impressive performance at Dundalk to gain his second career success.

A maiden winner in May, the Andy Slattery-trained colt received a rating of 100 following a narrow defeat in the Listed Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Tipperary Stakes, and was one of three black-type horses to line up in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race. The bay travelled strongly throughout under Andrew Slattery and was last off the bridle, quickening when asked a furlong from home, going on to win by a length and a half, comfortably.

“He stumbled coming to the line in Tipperary and we felt that's what got him beat,” the winning trainer later explained. “I've never had anything as fast as him, he's hacking all over those a furlong down.”

The exciting Sioux Nation colt was bred by Kevin Walsh.
