The Enabler Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Leopardstown

Black-Type Walk In The Park Gelding Scores At Leopardstown

Listed bumper winner The Enabler (5g Walk In The Park – Nanny Stone, by Flemensfirth) gained a deserved win over hurdles on the final day of Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival.

Runner-up on two of his three previous starts this season, Gordon Elliott’s representative tried the two and a half mile trip for the first time in Sunday’s maiden hurdle. Racing prominently under Sam Ewing, he asserted at the second last and was ridden approaching the final flight. The Gigginstown-owned bay dug deep on the run-in to deny a late challenge by I Am Lorenzo (Milan).

“He was good,” Elliott said after the race. “I’m not sure what his trip is as he wasn’t getting home over three miles and two miles looked too short. He looks a chaser for next year.”

Elliott purchased The Enable for €200,000 after his debut second in a four-year-old maiden for Mary Doyle. The Walk In The Park gelding is the first foal bred by Minch and Pate Bloodstock out of the Flemensfirth mare Nanny Stone.
