Brave Emperor Continues Fine Run For Sioux Nation
The wonderfully consistent Brave Emperor (4g Sioux Nation – Roman Gal, by Holy Roman Emperor) gained a fifth Stakes success in the Group 3 Premio del Piazzale Memorial Enrico Camici at San Siro.
A Group 2 winner over course and distance last season, Archie Watson’s likeable charge was partnered by regular rider Luke Morris on Sunday and raced prominently throughout. Shaken up two furlongs out, he led soon after and dug deep when challenged close home, prevailing by a short neck on the line.
Speaking after the race, Morris said, “He is named Brave Emperor and confirmed that he is very brave. He is a tough horse, he likes to fight and never give up.”
Sunday marked a sixth Group success for Brave Emperor, whose wins have come in England, France, Germany, Italy and Qatar. Bred by Caroline Hanly & Sean Ronan, he has earned over £580,000 for Middleham Park Racing.
He becomes a fifth Stakes winner so far this month by Sioux Nation.
