Calyx Filly Rewards Connections With €330,000 Sale
Calyx’s first crop continue to impress buyers at the breeze-up sales, with his latest offering at Arqana producing three six-figure sales.
Leading the way was a Calyx filly offered by Church Farm and Horse Park Stud, which was knocked down to Chauvigny Global Equine for €330,000. It represented an impressive return on her John Cullinan and Roger Marley’s yearling buy of €90,000, with the filly’s half-brother Bear On The Loose (Footstepsinthesand) having also won his second start since then.
Earlier in the day, MC Bloodstock sold their Calyx filly to C&S Bloodstock for €150,000, while Lynn Lodge enjoyed a fine return late in the day when selling their Calyx colt to Najd Stud for €190,000.
Calyx is now responsible for eight six-figure sales at the breeze-ups, while his first runners have also made their presence felt on the track. Impressive Newmarket debutante Persian Dream (Calyx) has Royal Ascot in her sights, while Gianluca Bietolini earmarked the Group 1 Prix Jean Luc Lagardere after Grand Son Of Calyx (Calyx) bolted up in a Saint-Cloud maiden. A step-up in class also appears likely for Nellie Leylax (Calyx), who flew home to make a winning debut for Tom Dascombe.
