Calyx Filly Wins Maiden On Seasonal Return
A step up in trip saw Kingmont (3f Calyx – Bellajeu, by Montjeu) make a winning seasonal return at Kempton on Monday.
Once-raced as a juvenile, the Harry Eustace-trained filly stepped up to a mile and three furlongs in the fillies’ maiden. Racing towards the back of the field under Pierre-Louis Jamin, the bay made headway from over two furlongs out and ran on to lead inside the final furlong. She kept on well to beat the favourite by a neck, with another two lengths back to Maritime Lady (Crystal Ocean) in third.
The first crop daughter of Calyx is owned by Nick Bradley Racing and partner. She was bred by Clarecastle Stud out of the black-type Montjeu mare Bellajeu, who has a two-year-old filly by Sottsass and a yearling colt by St Mark’s Basilica.
