Consistent Calyx Filly Gains Deserved Maiden Win
Clarita (2f Calyx - Condensed, by Dansili) became the latest first crop winner by Calyx when gaining a deserved success in Friday’s fillies’ maiden at Dundalk.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained bay had placed on three previous occasions, including in the valuable Tattersalls Ireland sales race, and was sent off joint-favourite to get off the mark on Friday. Racing in touch for much of the seven furlong contest, she produced a challenge after the two furlong pole and was ridden to lead a furlong from home. Running on well, she won by a length and three quarters under Robert Whearty.
Bred by Thomas Hore, Clarita is owned by the Meegan, Townbraccan and Capall Partnership. She becomes the second winner in as many days by Calyx, with Habrdi having completed an impressive hat-trick of wins the previous day.
