Demand For Saxon Warrior Yearlings Continues At Arqana
Saxon Warrior’s first yearlings continued to impress at the Arqana August Sale, where he was responsible for the highest-priced lot by any first crop sire at €370,000.
The sizeable sum in question was bid by Oliver St Lawrence for Lot 135 from Haras de Bourgeauville; a handsome colt out of three-time Stakes winner Artistic Jewel. Saxon Warrior’s first offering of the sale also fetched a six-figure sum, with Hugo Palmer and Avenue Bloodstock going to €100,000 for Camas Park Stud’s filly out of Silku (Montjeu). €125,000 from US-based trainer Kenny McPeek secured Haras des Capucines’ half-sister to Stakes performer Sojourn.
Saxon Warrior concluded the sale with an average price of €155,000; a handsome return on his initial covering fee of €30,000. The first yearlings by the top-class son of Deep Impact sold for up to ¥190 million; (€1,454,640/£1,244,120) at the recent JRHA Select Yearling Sale, while his first foals made up to 280,000gns at Tattersalls in December.
