Demand For Sioux Nation Continues At Tattersalls

Sioux Nation’s bright start in the sales ring continued on Tuesday when a mare in foal to the top-class two-year-old sold for 110,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale.

Jason Kelly Bloodstock was the successful buyer of Refusetolisten, who had enjoyed a year of important updates. Her daughter Stormy Girl won at Listed level, while her half-sister Miss Phillyjinks is now the dam of Group 1 winner Tiger Tanaka.

It followed a successful week for Sioux Nation at the venue’s foal sale, where one of his first foals topped the final day’s trade at 88,000gns. Bred by The Brigadier Partnership, the colt was offered by Barton Stud, whose manager later commented, “He was the stand-out foal today, we deliberately came today to sell on the Saturday to stand-out and it is a fantastic result. This was an investment by the breeders to get a bloodstock business going so this is really a great start, I am delighted for them.”

The winning bid was provided by bloodstock agent Alex Elliott, who said, “To me he was the best physical here today and by a very fast horse. I love the Scat Daddy line, he is becoming a real sire of sires and Sioux Nation was a fast horse.”

Indeed, Sioux Nation shares similarities with another son of Scat Daddy in No Nay Never, having also won a Group 1 as a two-year-old.
