€2.3 million for Holy Roman Emperor filly
Banimpire (3f Holy Roman Emperor-My Renee, by Kris S) became the dearest offering ever to pass through Goffs’ November Sale on Friday when realising 2,300,000 euros.
The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor won this season’s G1 Ribblesdale Stakes and finished runner-up in the G1 Irish Oaks and is set to continue her racing career in the US after being knocked down to agent Michel Zerolo, acting for owner Martin Schwartz.
“She is very high-class filly who has had a wonderful season and she is a Group1 winner in everything but name. You would have to think that she could do very well in America next year on what she showed this year. We were at our limit there,” Zerolo told EBN.
The three-year-old, who was bred by Pat O’Kelly’s Kilcarn Stud, had originally been bought for 52,000 euros as a yearling by her trainer Jim Bolger.
