Exciting Calyx Filly Bolts Up On Second Start

The future looks bright for Ingleby Ivy (2f Calyx - Luna Moon, by Equiano) after the daughter of Calyx drew clear from some useful rivals in Saturday’s Novice Stakes at Ripon.

The Adrian Nicholls-trained filly finished a promising fourth on debut ten days prior and appeared to appreciate Saturday’s good ground, as well as the step up to six furlongs. Racing prominently under Connor Murtagh, she was travelling strongly with two furlongs left to race and was shaken up to lead soon after. Ridden out inside the final furlong, she quickened clear to win by four and three lengths from two previous winners.

“Ingleby Ivy is a lovely filly and we think quite a lot of her,” the winning trainer later revealed. “She picked up well and went about her business very professionally. All of mine progress with racing so hopefully she can step up again and I hope she has a big future ahead of her.”

Bred by RJ Cornelius and G Godfrey, the first crop daughter of Calyx is owned by Ingleby Bloodstock and The Ivy League.
