Exciting Saxon Warrior Colt Brings €400,000 At Arqana
A son of Saxon Warrior proved an early highlight at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale when selling to Stroud Coleman for €400,000.
Offered by Johnny Collins’ Brown Island Stables, the February-born bay entered the ring with high expectations, having clocked one of the top ten times on Thursday. Anthony Stroud was the eventual buyer and revealed his purchase would go into training with John and Thady Gosden.
“He did a very good time,” Stroud said. “He looks precocious, he travelled nicely and looks an extremely nice horse.”
“I’m very happy with that,” successful consignor Johnny Collins later said. “I have a good relationship with Anthony Stroud too, so I’m delighted he got him because I think he’s very good. The beauty of this game is that time reveals everything but I believe he’s a very good horse.”
Katie McGivern’s Derryconnor Stud was another who reaped the rewards with Saxon Warrior’s second crop, when selling her filly to Jean-Claude Rouget for €115,000.
