First foal for top sprinter Calyx
Calyx, the fastest son of Kingman, sired his first foal at Coolmore Stud on Monday night when Listed winner We Are Ninety produced a quality filly. Coolmore manager Eddie Fitzpatrick described the foal as “A lovely dark bay with size and strength. She has a lovely head and is very correct too. Calyx is a very exciting stallion and he’s off to a good start.”
We Are Ninety won 3 races including the Fillies Trial Stakes-L. at Newbury for owners Mrs Evie Stockwell and her sister Lady Mimi Manton. She has a top-class pedigree too as her dam is a full-sister to the Gr.1-winning 2YOs Listen (won Fillies’ Mile-Gr.1, dam of Japanese Gr.2 winner Touching Speech) and Sequoyah (won Moyglare Stud Stakes-Gr.1, dam of the outstanding miler Henrythenavigator).
A brilliant winner of the Coventry Stakes-Gr.2 at two years, Calyx was also a highly impressive winner of the Commonwealth Cup Trial-Gr.3 at three. He is great value this year at a fee of €16,000.
