Further Group Success For Sioux Nation
Brave Emperor (3g Sioux Nation - Roman Gal, by Holy Roman Emperor) justified favouritism to gain his second Stakes success in the Group 3 Dr Busch Memorial at Krefeld on Friday.
The Archie Watson-trained bay won three of his four juvenile starts, before making a successful step up to Listed level in February and followed up in a valuable Class 2 Conditions Stakes at Kempton. The sole British raider at Krefeld was ridden to make all by Luke Morris and was asked to quicken from two furlongs out. Running on well, he kicked clear approaching the final furlong and was eased down close home to score by two and a half lengths, with another four and a half lengths back to the third.
Another step up in class may now be on the cards for Brave Emperor, who is owned by Middleham Park Racing. Bred by Caroline Hanly and Sean Ronan, he is one of seven individual Stakes winners from the first crop of Sioux Nation. The top-class son of Scat Daddy is responsible for another eight Group/Listed placed horses.
