Gimcrack Stakes Next For Sioux Nation Colt

Lakota Blue (2c Sioux Nation - Thiel, by Teofilo) will step up in class after defying a penalty in Wednesday’s six furlong novice stakes at Redcar.

Nigel Tinkler’s charge got off the mark earlier this month and was sent off second favourite to follow up under Faye McManoman. Racing prominently throughout, he produced a strong challenge entering the final furlong and led from 110 yards out. Keeping on well, he dug deep to deny the market leader by a neck on the line.

“He won't be out of place in the Gimcrack,” the winning trainer later commented. “He's already rated 91 and will probably go up a little more for this win.”

Owned by Mr and Mrs Bendelow, Lakota Blue was bred by B&B Equine Ltd. The highly-rated colt hails from the first crop of Sioux Nation, whose Stakes performers include Kinta, Matilda Picotte and Lakota Sioux.
