Gleneagles Colt Boosts Classic Claims

Bring On The Night (3c Gleneagles – Brasileira, by Dubai Destination) strengthened his 2020 Classic claims when winning his second start at Compiegne on Monday.

Run over a mile and a half, the Prix des Tambouraines marked a significant step up in trip for the Andrew Fabre-trained chesnut, who made his debut at Chantilly earlier in the month. Pierre-Charles Boudot rode him patiently in midfield, his mount quickening with the leaders as they turned for home, but was forced to wait for a gap in the straight. After gaining a clear run, he soon led and was pushed out to win by three and a half lengths from stablemate Salesman, a half-brother to Group 1 winner Solow.

The Laurent Benoit-owned winner is clearly held in high regard by connections, having been entered in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains, Prix du Jockey Club and Grad Prix de Paris. Bred by Ecurie Serval, the half-brother to Listed winner Bolleville (Camelot) was a €115,000 yearling purchase by Broadhurst Agency.

Bring On The Night hails from the first crop of Gleneagles, whose four top-level victories included wins in the English and Irish 2,000 Guineas. The son of Galileo has made a bright start at stud, with his first runners including Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes victor Royal Dornoch and Group 2 July Stakes scorer Royal Lytham.

Gleneagles commands €35,000 at Coolmore Stud this season.
