HK raider wins Dubai G3 for Holy Roman Emperor

Rich Tapestry (6g Holy Roman Emperor-Genuine Charm, by Sadler’s Wells), trained in Hong Kong by Michael Chang, brought more big-race glory for Holy Roman Emperor when winning the G3 Mahab Al Shimaal at Meydan in Dubai on Saturday.

Jockey Olivier Doleuze pulled Rich Tapestry, who was bred in Ireland by Moyglare Stud, out to challenge 200 metres from home in the six-furlong contest and prevailed by a length and a quarter from last year’s winner Reynaldothewizard.

“A new surface is always a question mark but he is a very good sprinter and we have come here with him as there are no races in Hong Kong for him at the moment,” said Doleuze. “The big advantage with this horse, apart from his speed, is he is so versatile tactically.

“I was always going well and he picked up in style. It is great to have another winner here in Dubai.”
