Mehdi (2c Holy Roman Emperor-College Fund Girl, by Kahyasi) earned his owner Iraj Parvizi a bumper payout when winning the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
The Brian Meehan-trained colt held off Royal Ascot winner Samitar (2f Rock Of Gibraltar- Aileen's Gift, by Rainbow Quest) to land the six-furlong contest and the winner could head next to the G2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.
Mahdi, who was bred by Douglas Taylor, was bought for 50,000gns by Angie Loder at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
“I’m really pleased for the owner and Angie who bought the horse,” Meehan told www.racingpost.com. “He’s a lovely horse and is definitely a stakes horse as he’s improving. Wéll wait and see what we do with him, hés in everything, but the Mill Reef maybe the plan.”
