Vischio (Holy Roman Emperor) Wins The Listed Finale Stakes At The Curragh

Holy Roman Emperor Mare Lands Listed Prize At The Curragh

Vischio (6m Holy Roman Emperor - Drifting Mist, by Muhtathir) produced a career-best effort on Sunday to win the Listed Finale Stakes at the Curragh.

Trained by Dick Donohoe for the Goatsbridge Syndicate, the evergreen mare started off a career-high mark following two placings in premier handicaps. Partnered by Gary Carroll at the Curragh, she raced prominently throughout and was pushed along to challenge approaching the final furlong. Soon in front, she was pushed out to beat one-time Group 1 winner Helvic Dream by three parts of a length, while the lightly-raced Time To Tell (Australia) took third.

Dick Donohoe, for whom it marked a first flat Stakes win, later said, “Vischio has been through every dog-fight, every festival and it's only better she's getting. She's without doubt the best I've had.”

Bred by Kildaragh Stud, Vischio is a full-sister to multiples Stakes winner Roman Mist (Holy Roman Emperor).
