Holy Roman Emperor Mare Raids Group 3 Feature
Roman Mist (5m Holy Roman Emperor - Drifting Mist, by Muhtathir) continued a fantastic day for Coolmore sires when record her third Stakes success in the Group 3 Grosser Preis der Landeshaupstadt Dresden.
A Listed winner and Group-placed last season, the progressive grey sold for 360,000gns in November and made a winning start for Archie Watson in a Listed race in May. Group-placed since, she was sent off favourite for Saturday’s seven furlong feature and raced prominently throughout under Andrasch Starke. Ridden with a furlong and a half left to race, she improved to lead and ran on well in the closing stages to win by three parts of a length.
Owned by David Howden and partners, Roman Mist holds and entry in next month’s Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor is the best performer bred by Kildaragh Stud out of Drifting Mist.
