Impressive Back-To-Back Wins For Saxon Warrior Colt
Impressive maiden winner Irregular Warfare (3c Saxon Warrior - Artistic Jewel, by Excellent Art) made a smart return to action in Wednesday’s seven furlong Novice Stakes at Kempton.
Roger Varian’s charge chased home a subsequent Group winner on debut, before bolting up by five lengths in a maiden in November. Absent since then, he was sent off a short-priced favourite on return, with David Egan back aboard the Victorious Racing-owned colt. Racing prominently throughout, he improved to lead approaching the final furlong and ran on well to score by four and a half lengths.
Egan later told Racing TV that there is more to come from Irregular Warfare, who was bought by Oliver St Lawrence as a yearling for €370,000. Bred and sold by Haras De Bourgeauville, he hails from the first crop of Saxon Warrior, which has produced four Group winners to date.
