Improving Son Of Saxon Warrior Gains Maiden Win
Hero Blues (3g Saxon Warrior - Pamona, by Duke Of Marmalade) took a step forward on his third start to take Friday’s seven furlong maiden at Fairyhouse.
Settled in midfield by Gary Carroll, the Ger Lyons-trained bay began to make headway from the three furlong pole and was ridden a furlong later. Running on well, he led inside the final 110 yards and won by a length and three quarters going away.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Hero Blues will stay further and he didn't mind the ground. He is very genuine and he has the makings of a nice horse.”
Bought as a yearling for 105,000gns, Hero Blues is owned by Sean Jones, David Spratt and Mrs Lynne Lyons. The first crop son of Saxon Warrior was bred by Highclere Stud.
