Flying Fairies (Holy Roman Emperor) winning the Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown

Irish black-type success for Holy Roman Emperor

An excellent Sunday for Holy Roman Emperor continued at Leopardstown when consistent filly Flying Fairies (3f Holy Roman Emperor-Bright Birdie, by Sadler´s Wells) took the Listed Trigo Stakes.

Gary Carroll was aboard Joe Murphy’s charge as she took the 10-furlong lengths by three and a quarter lengths in some style from Zawraq.

“She’s barely been out of the first three or four in her life. She’s a very genuine filly. The Holy Romans are like that and it was a nice place to have her,” said Murphy.

Carroll added: “She’s been improving all the year. She seemed to improve for a step up to a mile and a quarter. The race worked out well. I got first run up the straight and she kept going all the way to the line for me.”

Earlier in the day, the G2 Sha Tin Trophy in Hong Kong was won by Holy Roman Emperor’s son Designs On Rome (6g Holy Roman Emperor-Summer Trysting, by Alleged).
