Likeable Sioux Nation Filly Gets Off The Mark
Khaldiya (2f Sioux Nation – Dancing Around, by Iffraaj) dug deep to gain a deserved maiden victory at Newcastle on Tuesday evening.
Narrowly denied on debut and third next time out, the Roger Varian-trained filly was sent off favourite to get off the mark in the fillies’ novice stakes over six furlongs. Racing in touch under Jack Mitchell, she improved to lead a furlong out and kept on gamely to deny a late challenge by previous winner Magic Basma.
Khaldiya is owned by KHK Racing, having been bought by Stroud Coleman at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale for £300,000. The daughter of Sioux Nation was bred by Ms Laura Flood.
