Mahler Mare Draws Clear To Listed Success At Galway
Gale Mahler (5m Mahler – Victrix Gale, by Presenting) brought her winning run to six when bolting up in the Listed novice hurdle on the second day of the Galway Festival.
The Adrian Keatley-trained raider raced in touch with the leaders and began to make headway before two out. Pushed along to lead approaching the final flight, she drew clear on the run-in to win by ten lengths under Henry Brooke.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We had to step Gale Mahler up in grade to see what we had and she was very impressive. We can now go home and start making proper plans. She is a very good mare and we can target some of the big races in the autumn and next spring.”
Owned by J Fyffe, Gale Mahler has won all but one of her seven career starts. The daughter of Mahler was bred by Tony Martin out of Victrix Gale, herself a handicap hurdle winner at the Festival.
