Mastercraftsman Mare Gains Deserved Stakes Success
Barrington Court (6m Mastercraftsman - Arabian Hideway, by Desert Prince) added to a terrific season when taking the Listed Bluebell Stakes at Naas on Sunday.
An impressive maiden winner on her switch to the flat in August, the Jessica Harrington-trained mare went on to finish second in the Listed Oyster Stakes won by subsequent Group 1 winner Princess Zoe. She was last seen claiming runners-up honours in the Group 3 Loughbrown Stakes over two miles and dropped back to a mile and a half on her latest start.
Sent off favourite under Shane Foley, she raced towards the back of the field and began to make headway from over two furlongs out. Pushed along to lead approaching the final furlong, she kept on well to win by a length and a half from Snapraeceps, while Yaxeni (Maxios) kept on for third.
Owned by JP McManus, Barrington Court was bred by Las Pampas Polo Team out of a half-sister to Group 3 Solario Stakes victor Foss Way. She continued a successful week for Castlehyde Stud sire Mastercraftsman, who sired four six-figure yearlings at the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale.
