Salah Belle (Calyx) Wins On Debut At Dundalk

More To Come From Debut Winner By Calyx

Salah Belle (2f Calyx - Poole Belle, by Canford Cliffs) produced a smart debut performance to win Friday’s six furlong maiden at Dundalk.

The Sheila Lavery-trained newcomer raced in touch under Robbie Colgan and was switched left to challenge at the two furlong pole. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, she ran on well to beat Hemight (Zoffany) by three parts of a length, with a neck back to the favourite Badda Bing (Sioux Nation) in third.

“I'm just delighted with her,” Lavery said after the race. “She just wants to please, she has a great attitude. I think there is more to come because I don't think she even knew that she has had a race.”

The first crop daughter of Calyx was bred by Miss Claire Noone.
