New Stakes Winner By Sioux Nation
Brave Emperor (3g Sioux Nation - Roman Gal, by Holy Roman Emperor) became the latest first crop Stakes winner by Sioux Nation when taking the Listed Prix de la Californie at Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Successful on three of his four juvenile starts, Archie Watson’s progressive charge finished first past the post on return last month and remained over a mile on Sunday. Tracking the leader under Luke Morris, he was ridden approaching the two furlong marker and quickened to lead soon after. Asserting inside the final furlong, he kept on well to win by a length and three quarters.
Owned by Middleham Park Racing, Brave Emperor is the first foal bred by Caroline Hanly and Sean Ronan out of Roman Gal (Holy Roman Emperor). He becomes a fourth Stakes winner and 12th black-type performer from the first crop of Sioux Nation. The Group 1 winning son of Scat Daddy has sired seven Group horses, two of them Group winners.
