Princess Noor lands juvenile G3 for Holy Roman Emperor
Princess Noor (2f Holy Roman Emperor-Gentle Night, by Zafionic) looks an exciting juvenile for Holy Roman Emperor after landing the G3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
The Roger Varian-trained filly, running in the colours of Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, came home two lengths clear of Queen Catrine in the six-furlong contest.
“We’ve run her in nice races because we think she’s a nice filly and she’s always worked quite well,” said Varian. She was a little bit inexperienced when she ran at Royal Ascot and then maybe lacked a bit of focus coming down the dip at Newmarket, when she didn’t run badly.
“She travelled very well today. The blinkers might have just helped her but there’s nothing ungenuine about her. They helped her focus and it came off.”
Future plans for the Holy Roman Emperor filly might include the G2 Lowther Stakes at York and the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket
Jockey Andrea Atzeni added: “She travelled really well and she was going so well two furlongs out that I knew I was going to win. The blinkers have done the job today because she was much sharper and she quickened well.
“Today was great. It’s good to get a winner for Roger and for the owners and it’s great for the filly because she’s very talented.”
