Progressive Gleneagles Filly Adds Group 2 To Fine Record
The hugely progressive Insinuendo (4f Gleneagles - Obama Rule, by Danehill Dancer) recorded her second Stakes win of the season when justifying favouritism in Sunday’s Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh.
Successful on her sole start as a three-year-old, Willie McCreery’s charge took the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes in May and was last seen finishing fourth in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes. Dropping back to nine furlongs at the weekend, she tracked the leaders under Billy Lee, who asked her to quicken upon entering the straight. Running on well, she led inside the final furlong and kept on to score by a length and three quarters from April Shower (Galileo).
The Group 1 Matron Stakes is next on the agenda for Insinuendo, according to her trainer, who added, “She’s a lovely filly and she did that well. I wanted to give her time and Michael (Deegan, owner) has been very patient. It’s one of the first horses that he’s had with me so I’m delighted for him.”
Purchased by her trainer as a yearling for €100,000, Insinuendo was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud and becomes a fifth Group 2 winner this season alone for Gleneagles.
