Accumulate (Calyx) Wins His Maiden At Newmarket

Promising Calyx Colt Takes Newmarket Maiden

Accumulate (2c Calyx - Dazzling Rose, by Raven’s Pass) became the latest winner by freshman sire Calyx when justifying favouritism in Friday’s seven furlong maiden at Newmarket.

Roger Varian’s charge finished a promising second on debut at Ascot, with the winner subsequently following up with another win. Sent off favourite to go one better under Ryan Moore, he raced prominently throughout and became inconvenienced when the leader began to hang left from two furlongs out. He showed a good attitude to run on well inside the final furlong and led by a head on the line, with the pair drawing four and three quarter lengths clear of the third.

Accumulate is owned by Coolmore partners, having been purchased by MV Magnier as a yearling for 170,000gns. Bred by Emma Capon Bloodstock, he continues a smart start at stud by the well-bred and talented sprinter Calyx. His first runners are led by four Group performers, including Group 2 heroine Persian Force.
