Promising Colt Continues Sioux Nation’s Smart Start

Lakota Seven (2c Sioux Nation - All Time High, by High Chaparral) built on a promising debut to become Sioux Nation’s second winner in as many days.

Runner-up over seven furlongs last month, Joseph O’Brien’s charge was sent off favourite for Friday’s maiden over a mile at Bellewstown. Shane Crosse positioned the colt in mid-division, asking the bay to quicken three furlongs from home and kept on well approaching the final furlong. Leading 110 yards out, he beat Roman Hands (Holy Roman Emperor) by two and a half lengths.

There is more to come from Lakota Seven, according to assistant trainer Brendan Powell, who said, “He is such a laid-back horse and I still think that there is so much improvement to come. I can see a decent future for this lad.”

Bred by Longueville Bloodstock and Matrix Bloodstock, the first crop son of Sioux Nation was bought by owner Magnolia Racing for €125,000.
