Promising Saxon Warrior Colt A Deserving Winner
Tuesday saw Drink Dry (3c Saxon Warrior – Foxy Loxy, by Rock Of Gibraltar) gain a deserved win in the extended mile maiden at Beverley.
Twice placed as a juvenile, Marco Botti’s charge finished fourth in Meydan in February and returned to the UK to place on his next two starts. Sent off favourite on Tuesday, the Patrick Doyle-owned colt raced prominently under David Egan and was travelling best when leading from two furlongs out. Ridden clear a furlong later, he was pushed out to win by two lengths and three quarters comfortably.
The son of Saxon Warrior was bred by Newtown Anner Stud out of an unraced sister to dual Group 1 winner Fascinating Rock (Fastnet Rock).
