Promising Saxon Warrior Colt Lands Maiden
Saint Brandon (2c Saxon Warrior – Alutiq, by Kodiac) built on some promising performances to justify favouritism in Friday’s seven-furlong maiden at Down Royal.
Natalia Lupini’s charge finished second over the same trip in a Galway maiden and enjoyed a form boost when the winner doubled their tally next time out. Reunited with Billy Lee on Friday, he raced close to the pace throughout and was ridden to lead inside the final furlong. He kept on well to beat his closest market rival by half a length.
“He jumped smart and got into the race nicely,” Lupini later remarked. “He quickened well and he stayed on, and he put up a good battle to win. He's a very nice, honest horse and always a happy horse. He's a pleasure to train.”
Owned by Craig Bryson and bred by Murcot Investments, Saint Brandon is a half-brother to smart debut winner Duckadilly (Churchill).
