Promising Saxon Warrior Filly Gains Maiden Win
A step up in trip saw the progressive Queen Emma (3f Saxon Warrior – Amelia May, by Dansili) get off the mark in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Lingfield on Tuesday.
Runner-up on her three-year-old return, the William Haggas-trained chesnut finished fourth when denied a clear run last time out and was sent off favourite on Tuesday. Racing in midfield for much of the mile and a half contest, she was pushed along approaching the two furlong pole and made good headway a furlong later. Ridden soon after, she kept on well to win by a length under Tom Marquand.
Bred by Hascombe & Valiant Stud, Queen Emma is owned by Anthony Oppenheimer and Miss Morris. She hails from the first crop of Saxon Warrior, which also includes Grade 1 victor Victoria Road, Group 1 second Gan Teorainn and another four Stakes winners
