Promising Sioux Nation Colt Eases Clear
Thursday saw Sioux Nation sire yet another smart winner, with Ancestral Land (2c Sioux Nation - Swing Out Sister, by Kodiac) impressing in the six furlong Novice Stakes at Chepstow.
The Clive Cox trained colt finished a promising second on debut to Al Karrar, who went on to finish second to Royal Scotsman (Gleneagles) in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes. With the third and fourth horses also subsequently winning, Ancestral Land was sent off favourite to go one better and was ridden to make all by Rossa Ryan. Shaken up approaching the two furlong pole, he boasted a clear advantage inside the final furlong and was eased down to win by three lengths.
Owned by Isa Salman Al Khalifa, Ancestral Land holds an entry in the Listed Two Year Old Trophy next month. The son of Sioux Nation was bought by his trainer as a yearling for 140,000gns from Aston Mullins Stud, who bred him in partnership with S Barrow.
