Promising Sioux Nation Colt Justifies Favouritism
Minnesota Lad (2c Sioux Nation - Lady Sandy, by Dandy Man) built on a promising debut to win Wednesday’s five furlong maiden at Beverley.
Third over course and distance in May, the Richard Fahey-trained colt was sent off favourite on return and raced prominently throughout under Oisin Orr. Pushed along with two furlongs left to race, he was ridden approaching the final furlong and kept on well to lead inside the final 110 yards. The winning margin was a length and three quarters, with the first two drawing six and a half lengths clear of the third.
Bred by Aidan Fogarty, Minnesota Lad runs in the colours of the Oyster Catchers Partnership. He continues an impressive start at stud by Sioux Nation and provides an important update for his brother by Footstepsinthesand, who sells at Tattersalls next month.
