Promising Sioux Nation Filly Gets Off The Mark
Mazyuna (2f Sioux Nation - Sharp Relief, by Galileo) built on earlier promise to take the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Southwell on Sunday afternoon.
Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy, the daughter of Sioux Nation finished a promising second on debut in May, with the winner having since boosted the form. Partnered by Daniel Muscutt for the first time at the weekend, she raced prominently throughout the seven furlong contest and was shaken up two furlongs from home. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she stayed on well to lead inside the final 110 yards and prevailed by a short head on the line.
Owned by Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah, Mazyuna was bred by Edgeridge Ltd and Glenvale Stud.
