Wednesday saw the promising Sir Edward Elgar (3c No Nay Never - Stroke Of Six, by Woodborough) make a winning return to action in the mile maiden at Lingfield.
Third on his only two previous starts, the John Gosden-trained bay was sent off favourite on his first start since October. Robert Havlin rode him to track the leader and led on the turn for home, driving out his mount to score by a neck. The more experienced Host claimed runners-up honours, with the pair racing three and a half lengths clear of the third.
